Dr Ben Thomas, Head of History of Art & Architecture at Trinity College Dublin, will guide audiences through four centuries of European works on paper. The lecture, timed to the National Gallery of Ireland’s current show “Rembrandt to Matisse – A Celebration of European Works on Paper”, highlights key drawings, prints and watercolours from the fifteenth century onward, examining how techniques and ideas evolved from Rembrandt’s etching innovations to the modernist simplifications of Matisse.
