The M50 toll has no barriers and no cash booths. Here is how to pay in two minutes, how to pay less, and what happens if you miss the deadline.
The M50 toll between Junction 6 (Blanchardstown) and Junction 7 (Lucan) has no barriers and you cannot pay with cash at the road. Pay online at eflow.ie, by phone or at a Payzone shop by 8pm the day after your trip. A car costs €3.80 if you have no account.
Who this is for
This is for anyone who drives past the toll point, including visitors. Cameras read your number plate, so the toll is charged even if you did not see a sign. If you have an eFlow tag or video account, the toll is paid for you.
In a hire car, check your rental agreement. Some companies add tolls to your bill. Others ask you to pay the toll yourself.
What you need
- The vehicle registration number, exactly as it is on the plate, with no dashes
- The date you used the toll
- A Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card, or a digital wallet, to pay online
- Cash, if you want to pay at a Payzone shop
- To open an account: a payment card to save on the account
Step by step: pay for one trip
- Go to the Pay a Toll page on eflow.ie. You can pay before you travel or up to 8pm the next day.
- Enter the registration number exactly as it is on the plate, with no dashes.
- Choose the date of your trip and check the amount.
- Pay by Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card, or a digital wallet.
- Keep your receipt or receipt number.
- To pay by phone, call 0818 50 10 50 (or +353 1 461 0122 from abroad) with a Visa, Mastercard or Visa Debit card.
- To pay cash, go to any Payzone shop in Ireland and give the registration number.
Step by step: open an account and pay less
- Go to eflow.ie and click Open Account.
- Pick a video account (M50 only, no rental fee) or a tag account (€1 a month per tag plus VAT, also works at other toll plazas).
- Add your vehicle and a payment card.
- Choose Post Pay, one payment a month taken between the 12th and 18th, or Pre Pay, a top-up of at least €30.
- Drive as normal. Each toll is charged to your account, so there is no deadline to remember.
The eFlow: My Tolls app can also pay tolls automatically at the no-account rate. It shows any tolls and penalties due on your vehicle and warns you before a deadline.

Common mistakes
- Looking for a booth. There is no cash payment at the M50 toll point.
- Missing 8pm the next day. The €4 penalty is added straight away.
- Typing the plate wrong. Your payment will not match your trip.
- Selling a car without updating the owner on the National Vehicle Driver File (NVDF). eFlow cannot do this for you, and penalties go to the registered owner.
- Assuming the hire company pays. Read your rental agreement.
If something goes wrong
- eFlow customer service: 0818 50 10 50, or +353 1 461 0122 from abroad.
- To pay a penalty, use the Pay a Penalty page on eflow.ie with your registration, PIN or Notice Number. Pay the full amount to stop it rising.
- Think a penalty is wrong? Appeal it on eflow.ie. Customer service replies within 5 working days.
- Complaints about the toll operator: email customerservice@tii.ie.
- Not paying is an offence. The maximum on summary conviction is a €5,000 fine, up to 6 months in prison, or both.
