Quintessence Theatre returns to Sligo with Some of Our Children, a newly devised play that draws on real testimonies to examine the experience of children in the Irish foster‑care system. Using a blend of physical theatre and ensemble storytelling, the production offers a thoughtful look at the challenges faced by young people moving between homes, often with only a single bag of belongings. While the subject matter is serious, the company intersperses moments of humour, creating a nuanced portrait that both informs and engages.
The performance runs for two hours, including an interval, and is suitable for audiences aged twelve and over. It follows Quintessence Theatre’s recent national tours of Cracks, The Curious Case of Albert Cashier and Belfast Girls, and promises the same inventive staging that has characterised their work.
